Recently, Luton Town Football Club and Luton Town FC Community Trust proudly hosted a Community Job Fair at Kenilworth Road, delivered in partnership with Luton Borough Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
The event brought together over 20 local businesses, training providers and support services from a wide range of sectors. More than 700 members of the local community attended, connecting directly with employers and discovering real opportunities in employment, education and training.
As a free event, the Community Job Fair offered job seekers the chance to explore career pathways, network with potential employers and gain valuable insights into the current job market. Attendees also benefited from employability-focused workshops and industry talks delivered by organisations including Luton Town Football Club, Willmott Dixon, the NHS, London Luton Airport and Luton Borough Council.
The day highlighted the power of partnership working across the town, reinforcing a shared commitment to supporting local people into sustainable employment and creating brighter futures within our community.
Ben B Groves, Recruitment Advisor Manager for Bedfordshire at Department for Work and Pensions, said: “Luton Jobcentre Plus was proud to partner with Luton Council and Luton Town FC on this exciting event, connecting our customers directly with local employers, large and small, who are actively recruiting and ready to meet candidates face to face.”
Councillor Javeria Hussain, Portfolio Holder for Education, Employability and Skills at Luton Council, said: “Our job fairs play a crucial role in connecting residents with real employment opportunities while supporting local businesses to meet their recruitment needs."
Bert Klemmer, Programmes Manager (Education, Employability & Learning) at Luton Town FC Community Trust, said: “We were proud to host a community job fair at Kenilworth Road, bringing together the club, local partners and the community to showcase real opportunities in employment, training and education in Luton. The event reflected our commitment to breaking down barriers and creating clear pathways into sustainable work in support of the Luton 2040 vision.”
At Luton Town, we are proud to play our part beyond the pitch - supporting pathways into work, strengthening local partnerships, and making a positive impact across our town.
Luton Town FC Community Trust delivers various employment programmes for local residents.
The Supporting Luton Into Employment project, funded by the Premier League and PFA Players’ Fund, brings together local organisations to support adults facing barriers to employment, training, and education.
It provides practical training, free accredited qualifications, one-to-one support, and workplace experiences, helping participants build skills, confidence, and pathways into sustainable employment.
Since its launch in the 2024–25 season, the project has engaged 126 adults aged 18 and over who were unemployed or in insecure employment, delivering courses and providing qualifications in Football Coaching, Catering and Hospitality in Sports, Youth Leadership, Youth Mentoring, and most recently, stewarding and Level 2 Spectator Safety in partnership with Luton Town’s Health and Safety team.
These courses have enabled participants to progress into paid roles at the club and with other local organisations.
As part of our employability programme for young people aged 13–18, funded by The Connolly Foundation, Luton Town FC Community Trust delivers targeted employability and youth work sessions for those disengaged from education, employment, or training, particularly from the most disadvantaged areas, providing opportunities they might not otherwise receive.
We run weekly sessions, workshops, and events across schools and community settings, alongside work experience placements within club departments, helping young people take positive steps forward in life.
In the past six months, we have engaged over 200 participants from more than 20 schools and community organisations, most of whom face one or more risk factors, such as disengagement from education, not being in education or training, risk of exclusion, receiving pupil premium funding, or experiencing wellbeing concerns.
For example, last year we supported pupils from Putteridge High School to build confidence and interview skills through mock interviews, with several Luton Town club staff in attendance across departments - from Finance, HR and Operations, and the Academy, Media, to Catering and Hospitality, and the Community Trust.
We have also supported over 20 career days and events at schools and community settings, helping young people explore opportunities and connect with staff from Luton Town, the Community Trust, and local partners.
