Richards: A moment to cherish

The teenage midfielder on his chance to make history under the arch

Jake Richards will make history by becoming the youngest player to feature for the Hatters at Wembley if selected on Sunday.

And the opportunity to walk out in front of over 32,000 Town supporters against Stockport is something not lost on the 18-year-old.

“At the start of my career I just wanted to turn pro but, as you realise that will turn reality, that changed to wanting to play in the Premier League and playing for England – and of course playing at Wembley was definitely one of them, too,” the midfielder told LTFC+.

“Some players go their whole careers without playing there so for me to have that privilege, at my age now, is something I won’t take for granted but one I’ll cherish.”

Richards, who scored in our Easter weekend victories against Peterborough and AFC Wimbledon, is hitting form at just the right time ahead of the final where he’ll be cheered on by 20 members of his family and friends.

“I’m on top of the world at the moment,” added Richards, who scored his first goal for the Hatters against Stockport earlier in the season.

“I don’t score many goals, so two in two is rare but hopefully I can add a few more before the end of the season – and maybe one at Wembley.”
