Loan round-up: Oli at the Lambs double

Oli Lynch Tamworth

As we start the month of March, the boys out on loan continue to shine for their respective loan clubs whilst some of the academy lads made their debuts after recently going out on loan.

Oli Lynch bagged a brace for Tamworth as they were able to beat a promotion chasing Boreham Wood side 3-2. A few days later, Oli was unable to recreate his weekend magic as Tamworth lost 2-0 away at Yeovil.

After Henry Blackledge’s injury, Lucas Thomas was loaned to Gosport Borough, and he kept a clean sheet on debut in Gosport’s 3-0 triumph over Basingstoke.

Recently, Vlad Paternoster went on loan to Welling United but his debut for the Wings was spoiled due to last minute heartbreak by the hands of Dartford. However, Vlad got his first win in a Welling shirt a few days later as they beat Cray Valley 4-1.

Jack Lorentzen-Jones made it back into the starting XI for Hemel Hempstead as the Tudors needed a last-minute winner to overcome Tonbridge Angels.

Josh Phillips came off the bench for 25 minutes for Bedford but was unable to make a difference as the Eagles fell to a 2-0 defeat to Darlington.

Like Josh, Tate Xavier-Jones was used as a substitute this time for Merthyr Town as the Welsh side lost 3-1 at home to Buxton.

After last week’s two goals in two games, Taylan Harris started for Braintree in their 3-2 win over National League basement side Truro City, but his afternoon was cut short due to injury.

Moving on to the senior lads, Jerry Yates scored his first goal for Sheffield Wednesday, but the Owls could not overcome Southampton at Hillsborough.

Lasse Nordas started his fourth successive game for Heerenveen as the Dutch outfit beat Sparta Rotterdam 2-1 to put European qualification in their sights.

Ruell Walters completed his fifth successive 90 minutes since moving to Blackpool but this time around the Seasiders were heavily beaten by a promotion chasing Lincoln City.

After missing Port Vale’s clash with Luton at the weekend, Ethon Archer started the FA Cup tie with Bristol City where the Valiants knocked out the Championship side.

Both Millenic Alli and Jacob Brown made appearances for Portsmouth with Alli starting and Brown coming off the bench as Pompey narrowly lost to play-off contenders Hull City.

Cauley Woodrow started and made an appearance off the bench for Wycombe as the Chairboys beat both Burton and Barnsley.

Zack Nelson was called upon for AFC Wimbledon from the bench to try and find a winner, but the Dons ended up drawing 2-2 with Mansfield.

Joe Gbode came off the bench for Woking as they were knocked out at the quarter final stage of the FA Trophy by Marine. Gbode later started for The Cards in a 2-2 draw with Boston United in the National League.
