Jordan Clark spoke of "a perfect afternoon" in Peterborough as the Hatters made it two wins from two Sky Bet League One matches.
The 31-year-old midfielder scored the second goal, adding to Mads Andersen’s opener on the hour mark, to seal a 2-0 victory at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Afterwards, he spoke to LTFC+ and said: “First away game, another three points, a perfect afternoon.
“It wasn’t perfect in the first half, I must admit, but we made a couple of tweaks at half-time, a couple of choice words from everybody and the manager, and it was more like us second half.
“It’s exciting to kick on now and I’m sure we’ll get better as the games keep coming.”
Clark explained that despite the stalemate of the opening period in which the Hatters had the best chance, but couldn’t take the lead, a dressing room analysis session at the interval reaped its rewards.
“In the first half we were thinking ‘What’s going wrong?’ and obviously we watched a couple of clips in the dressing room at half-time and we could see what wasn’t working, a couple of us were off position maybe five or six yards and at this level you can get punished,” he said.
“But we’ve got a good squad and when we are at it, we are going to be a real force this season. It’s going to be exciting to play in their half, try to keep the ball in the opposition half, keep attacking and trying to get the crowd off their seats and give them something to sing about.”
Clark also believes the team will gel more as they become more familiar with each other. Just three of the starting XI at Posh started at West Brom on the final day of last term, with Jerry Yates making his debut up front.
“It’s always hard, especially when there is a big overhaul of players,” said Clicker. “You see today, it’s Jerry’s first game in I don’t know how long, he’s not really trained a lot with us, but he’s going to be a big signing for us. He’s a great lad and he works his socks off as well, which is really god for us.
“It’s going to take time, we aren’t the finished article yet and I don’t think we will be for a while. But the main thing is that we’ve won the first two, which is the most important thing, and I’m sure we’ll get better as the games come on.”
And on his goal, easily the simplest, closest finish of his 19 for the Town, he said: “They all feel the same! It feels a bit more special this year because we know where we want to be.
“We want to be at the top of the table and we don’t want to be too cocky, because it can bite you on the backside at times, but I know the squad we’ve got and the potential we’ve got.
“It’s just about focussing on each game as it comes and trying to pick up as many points as we can and see where it takes us.”
